Wrecker’s Cay Apartments is one of the largest workforce housing communities developed in the Florida Keys in more than 50 years. The privately-funded, 280-unit development is located on Stock Island, minutes from the heart of Key West.
Through a multi-property assemblage, Integra Investments acquired nine acres on the water between 2017 and 2018; following an extensive rezoning and entitlement process, the project was approved.
Having broken ground in 2021, the project is set to feature 70 low-income units, 98 median income units, and 112 moderate income units dedicated for the workforce of Monroe County, and is scheduled to deliver by the end of 2022.
With limited land available for development, affordable and workforce housing in the Florida Keys has been a dire challenge for many years with inadequate housing options for the workforce who supports the community. Wreckers Cay garnered positive local support, filling a void by greatly combating the housing crisis and providing much needed housing for the community.
